February 14th, 2010February 14th, 2010, “Valentine’s Day”
![]() Happy Valentine’s Day! The red and pink colors can be found everywhere – from the shelves at your local grocery store, shops at the mall, and even at your favorite quilt shop. This is the holiday that many participate by taking the time to acknowledge the one they love. I am so fortunate to have a wonderful, supportive husband who brought me tulips (my favorite), chocolates, and dinner and is truly my valentine every day! Happy Valentine’s Day to the love of my life! Finally, everything is coming up Roses – the Rose Collection by Maywood is here. The Rose quilts were previewed at our Fall After Market Preview and the collection arrived this week. There are two color collections – one is in shades of purples, reds, greens, and a black background and the other is in shades of reds and greens with a black background. The fabric was designed by Jackie Robison from Animas Quilts and several quilts have been on display at both of the SWI shops in anticipation of the collection. Drop by to see the quilts before they are shipped back to Jackie next week. The quilts are gorgeous and really showcase the versatility of the Rose collection. Color was blooming at Sew Worth It this week! Frieda Anderson, fusible artist extraordinaire, dazzled us with her colorful wall art during her trunk show. The lucky attendees of Frieda’s Workshop learned fusing techniques, shortcuts, and created their very own colorful wall art. Everyone loved the workshop, patterns and hand-dyed fabrics used in the project. Frieda has agreed to send a trunk show of her latest projects that will be launched at Spring Quilt Market, along with her patterns and hand-dyed fabric kits, for the SWI After Market Preview. It should be spectacular! The preparations for the popular After Market Preview Event are underway – the date will be announced soon so watch the SWI website for specifics. SWI will bring the latest products and fabrics from market, but there will be some new and exciting * * * can’t tell you – it’s a surprise! Batiks, batiks, and even more batiks. Approximately 200 bolts of batiks were received this past week – half in Sarasota and the other half is on it’s way to Ft Myers. We are receiving shipments every day with new basics, new collections, and the latest notions. The new collection from Windham is perfect for a lightweight jacket or purchase the fabric and receive a free pattern to make a quilt using these beautiful fabrics. Classes have been filling up fast and some are sold out – be sure to call to reserve your spot. Some classes will be added within the next few days and unfortunately you won’t have much notice, but getting these educators are too good to pass up. Embroidery classes, serger classes, and longarm classes. Watch for updates on the website – www.sewworthit.com. Back to checking in more new fabric – hope to see you soon and have a great Valentine’s Day! Sue, Steve, and the SWI Staff |
